What Moms Really Want For Mother’s Day

Every mom is different, but most are very easy to please. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, now is the time to think about what the mom in your life really wants, not just what you think they want. Let’s jump in!

Freedom

Many mamas that I’ve talked to actually don’t want a day packed full of activities. Instead, a day all to themselves is a slice of heaven. The opportunity to do whatever they want, when they want, is a priceless gift you can easily give.

A Day Free of Duty

This is similar to the gift idea above, but completely leaves her to be present with her family without having to worry about the million details she normally deals with each day. Try to think about the top 5 things that stress her out and just do them. A week before Mother’s Day, really pay attention to her and listen to what burdens her the most and do these things.

A Trip to the Spa

Mothers spend most of their time taking care of others – it’s time now to give her the gift of a manicure/pedicure, a massage, or facial. If money is an issue, no worries! Clean the bedroom, put out some of her favorite magazines and books, light some scented candles and give her a massage. Afterwards, bring her in a mimosa or her favorite drink. Older kids can help with this too by making their own homemade sugar scrubs

Sleep

Uninterrupted sleep is hard to come by as a mom, but it is essential to her emotional and physical well-being. Booking a hotel room (perhaps one with a spa? 😉 ) and letting her crash will be a gift she will be thrilled to receive. Taking the kids out for the entire day so she can sleep too also works!

Acknowledgment

Perhaps the most valuable gift the mom in your life can receive though is acknowledgement, appreciation, and the love of her family. Knowing that who she is and what she does makes a difference in her family and community is a priceless gift you can give every day of the year!
